Buckle, Baby

on

Every time Mama put Anika into the car seat, she used to say, “Let me buckle the baby into her car seat”.

Ms. Pandey has picked up the tag line, and now as soon as the car stops and Ms. Pandey finds herself still strapped in, she starts asserting “Buckle, Baby, buckle, baby, buckle baby..”, reminding us that she is still buckled in, even though the car has been at a complete stop for almost 30 seconds now!!

Yesterday, while returning from Daddy’s favorite hang-out joint – Amoeba Records in San Francisco – we forgot to Buckle the Baby in, and started driving down Haight. Ms. Pandey, engrossed in her Elmo book, and sitting upright in her car seat, started purring, “Buckle baby, buckle baby, buckle baby..”. Something probably didn’t feel right to her.

Horrified, Mama quickly corrected the mistake, and showered her with kisses for the sweet reminder.
