Mama and Daddy are trying to inculcate an interest in Lego from Ms. Pandey. Why the sudden urge you say? Well, because we think that will instill patience and concentration.
So Mama and Daddy decided to get a Lego house for Anika – something meant really for 8-12 year olds.
It was Daddy’s job to pick it up from the Lego store while driving back from work on Monday, and had been promised as such to Ms. Pandey who was exceptionally excited, even at the expense of her doll-house being packed away for space concerns.
As expected, Daddy was late at work and skipped the store visit in exchange for a hot meal at home. “Don’t worry, Anika doesn’t remember”, Mama quipped.
From Monday through Saturday, the Lego was never brought up.
On Sunday, part-guilt and part-excitement poked Daddy to drive out in the pouring rain – photography of seedy downtown San Jose included – and get the Lego house.
Ah the excitement on Ms Pandey’s face. She spents hours trying to assemble pieces of the floorplan – patiently and nimbly.
When it was sleepy time and the excitement had toned down, Ms. Pandey quips while lying in bed:
“Daddy, did you know?”
“What Anika?”
“Did you know, you were supposed to get this Lego for me as a surprise last week”.
The gal doesn’t forget, but definitely forgives.
