The high-energy Ms. Pandey is never tired nor sleepy, unless of course, she has to do something that her parents have asked her to do, in which case slumber overpowers her for a few minutes.
Mama’s dad (Nana) used to play a game with Mama when she was Anika’s age – shine a torchlight on the wall and ask Mama (and her brother) to catch the spot as it moves across the room. An excellent and low-investment invention for the high-energy toddler to have fun, and in the process, get tired for a sound night’s sleep.
Naturally, Mama wanted to try that out with Ms. Pandey today.
Mama: Anika, I have a new game for you
Anika: Wot Mama?
Mama: I will shine this torch light on the floor, and you try and stamp it with your foot.
Anika’s eyes light up – what a fabulous game!
Anika: Mama, this is a very good game! I will shine the light, and you run and stamp it with your foot.
She grabs the torch from the table, while Mama figures out how to get out of the twist that has just occured.
