Kanni and Lal (or Kanni Lal) are the two pieces of cloth that were tied to Anika hands, like homegrown mittens which couldn’t be yanked off easily, to prevent her from sucking her thumb at night.

They had been there on her hands every night for almost 2 years now, and Mama had promised Anika that they will come off when she turns 4, if, she promises not to suck her thumb at night.

They did come off on December 30th 2008.

It has been more than a week and no thumb sucking so far. I hope this post doesn’t jinx it.
