Imagine a blissfully sitting, disappearing behind her toys, and listening to music in the music room Anika. Suddenly we would hear a coo and a gurgle which would evolve into strengthened and sustained cooing. Peeping into the room, we could see Anika turning her head almost 100 degrees and staring straight at something in our direction. Follow the gaze, and it would land on the small little stuffed puppy – her favorite – placed on a dining chair. Imagine Anika sitting on the bed and frantically waving her hand in despair and frustration (over something like why did you change my clothes or come over right now and pick me up). The next instant she starts cooing and gurgling and starts gazing intently towards the shelf. The puppy was sitting on the shelf. The time has come when Ms. Pandey can identify her objects and stare and communicate with them at her own will.
